FR3.5 CALENDAR 2012 SEASON: 9 MEETINGS AND NEW HORIZONS

World Series by Renault enters its eighth season next year, one that will see the launch of the new Formula Renault 3.5 and a total of seven meetings on the calendar. As well as visiting the six tracks on the 2011 schedule, WSR will also be pitching up in Russia at the new Moscow Raceway. With two additional races on the calendar, including the curtain-raiser for the Monaco Formula One Grand Prix, the FR 3.5 Series season will unfold at nine tracks in all.
The mid-May meeting at Motorland Aragon in Spain will mark the starting point of the 2012 World Series by Renault season, with leg two taking place at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. WSR then moves on to Germany’s Nürburgring at the end of June, the prelude to the all-new Russian meeting at the Moscow Raceway in the middle of July, the first time WSR has headed as far east.

No sooner had the final event of the World Series by Renault campaign concluded, Daniël was back on track at the Circuit de Catalunya for the first officially timed post-season collective test as teams and competitors prepare for 2012.
Running with the International Draco Racing team on Tuesday, 11th October, the teenager delivered a sensational fourth fastest time during the morning session with his best lap of 1m34.260 seconds (177.8 km/h) placing him a mere 0.3 seconds shy of the outright pace. In session two, Daniël was just outside the top 10 with a time of 1m34.661 seconds (177.0 km/h) - overall for the day he was ninth.

DE JONG STARS IN FR 3.5 FINALE WITH MAIDEN TOP 10 RESULT

Daniël De Jong rounded-off his debut season in the ultra-competitive Formula Renault 3.5 Series at Barcelona in Spain last weekend, 8th/9th October, with an outstanding drive to ninth position in the final race - his first top 10 finish in the category and maiden points score.
Having been gradually improving with each outing during the course of the season, the 19-year-old Dutchman secured a season's best 12th place at Paul Ricard in France last month but managed to put that in the shade during the championship finale with a sensational performance.

SEASON BEST PERFORMANCE FOR DE JONG ON PAUL RICARD DEBUT

Comtec Racing's Daniël De Jong enjoyed his best outing yet in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series at Paul Ricard in France over the weekend, 17th/18th September - the Dutch teenager starring with the eighth fastest time in a rain-affected second qualifying session before racing to a great top 12 result.
Marking the 19-year-old's first experience at Le Castellet, the penultimate World Series by Renault event of the season underlined the level of improvement Daniël has been making during his debut campaign in the FIA Formula One World Championship feeder category.

MAIDEN AUTO GP PODIUM SLIPS THROUGH DANIEL'S GRASP

Auto GP newcomer MP Motorsport almost achieved its maiden podium in only its second outing in the championship at Oschersleben in Germany over the weekend, 30th/31st July.
Rising teenage star Daniël De Jong, who debuted with the Oudenbosch squad in Auto GP a couple of weeks ago at Donington Park in the UK, produced a fantastic performance in very difficult conditions during the second encounter, coming within just a couple of laps of finishing in second position.
